Maggie Moore, Founder

My appreciation for the past began at a young age while exploring the objects and antiques in my grandparents' c. 1752 colonial home in Greenfield Hill, Fairfield, CT. As a student at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland I relished the opportunity to visit country houses and castles. I grew to greatly appreciate the Old Master paintings, sculpture and furniture collected over family generations that represented their tastes and styles. After completing an M. Litt. in Fine and Decorative Art at Christie’s Education in London with a dissertation on late 18th and early 19th century Irish Furniture, I honed my knowledge cataloguing and researching the provenance of important furniture and works of art for the Christie’s Furniture Department at King Street and South Kensington.

After relocating to New York City I spent five years managing an antique furniture and decorative art gallery with an integrated conservation and restoration workshop in TriBeCa. With the constant collaboration between the gallery and workshop, and clientele that included auction houses, dealers, architects, interior decorators and private collectors, I learned to appreciate the incredible skill and care that goes into preserving and maintaining pieces in a living collection. A highlight of my time in New York was delivering an illustrated talk at the inaugural Furniture History Society Research Seminar for emerging scholars at the Metropolitan Museum of Art about the 250 year history of a Scottish mirror at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

I followed my love of adventure and the outdoors and moved to Jackson Hole in 2015, quickly immersing myself in the vibrant local art scene.  Recognizing an opportunity to utilize my research skills and experience, I launched Artemis Art Advisory in the Summer of 2016.  I named the company Artemis after the Greek goddess of the hunt, grounded in nature, as I love to hunt and gather information for my clients to determine the value of their collections.
